After school activities and burnout

For parents all around the world, the day continues even after the school bell. Many activities still need to be done like pictures to be painted, songs to be sung and games to be played. This is in addition to keeping children safe, happy and out of trouble. Parents still have to limit themselves from going overboard.

After school is not baby-sitting:
After school activities is justifiable when there is sufficient parental involvement. A soccer match without parents supporting their precious little heroes from the sidelines will be meaningless.

Research and choose:
One of the important factors is to find out things that your child is interested in. Once a program chosen, dig out the detail and info. Do your best to contribute to the program.

Free time:
Children often attend piano classes, followed by ballet and squeeze in some time for play dates in between just before they rush home in time for bed. If the schedule is too much for a child to cope, you will have to make changes to avoid creating too much stress.

When to quit:
Avoid enrolling your child in an activity that is difficult for the child to handle. You need to accept that your child may not be as smart as the rest. But, let him cultivate an interest that he enjoys. The important fact to remember is that happiness and fulfillment are all that matter.
