Recreational after school programs
Recreational after school programs
There are 3 broad categories of after school programs : academic,
recreational and social. Balanced development occurs if there is
compatibility between the physical, mental as well as the educational
achievements of the child. As the name proposes, recreational after school programs are established on a sport or recreation. Some of the more usual physical activities consist of football, swimming and basketball. Certain clubs have programs like gymnastics, trekking and hiking. In this case, youngsters are usually given a short class in first-aid class also.
Recreational after school programs provide children a chance to release some steam and to let go of stress themselves. The closed classroom atmosphere and a day pack full of textbooks and writing may cause the child to subdue his natural enthusiasm. He controls his energy when he is required to sit quietly in class and learn. Physical activity is an all-time low during such times. This physical sluggishness and inaction is lifted by recreational activities. Growing fears of obesity and child diabetes make it essential for children to indulge in more or less strenuous exercises that will permit them to work up some sweat.
Unlike educational programs, recreational programs do not tax the
mental processes. But, they do help the learning process by causing the
child to be more active. A physically active child and mentally fit will be able to focus his thoughts on the work at hand. Additionally,
recreational programs enhance discipline, mechanics of teamwork and fair
play. These are important lessons in the growing process.
With more nuclear families forming, the child faces more isolation. Many children busy moving about between their classroom and their bedrooms and do not have any significant relationships outside these. Recreational programs provide sizeable avenues for socialization. The child can go to such place for fun even as his neighbor may not be friendly. The Boy / Girl Scout programs are excellent recreational after
school programs. Recently, survival classes and camps have formulated a
combine important survival skills with sports and games to educate
children on how to deal with emergencies.
Like any good after school program, recreational programs are planned to provide children a safe area for them to indulge group activities that interest them. Its the most effective ways to protect kids from the danger and trouble lurking outside the home. But, one must be careful when enrolling children for recreational classes. The age of the child, his temperament and his physical caliber has to be taken into consideration before you decide on the right program for your child.
