Fundamentals Of Drawing Everything You Wanted To Know About Drawing

Have you always been fascinated by the great drawings of Michelangelo, Picasso or Rueben? Wished that you could also draw something beautiful? Do you like to doodle on a piece of paper when you are free? Would you like to learn drawing but are ashamed that at your age people will laugh at you? Well, its not late to start. In fact drawing is a form of art you can take up at any age: even when you are old.

What You Will Be Needing

The most easy of all drawings is sketching with pencil on paper. We all do it one time or another; all you have to learn is the right techniques. Have you wondered why pencil drawing is easy on papers marked specifically for drawing? That is because the texture of the sketching pad holds on to the graphite in the pencil better than ordinary writing or printing paper. That is why it is important that you buy a good sketching pad. Start with inexpensive ones, and when your drawing improves, you can buy better ones.

Another important thing is the pencil. Pencils come in different degrees of hardness and if you are seriously thinking of taking up drawing as a hobby you should buy 2B, 4B, 4H and 2H pencils. They will help you to learn the ways of shading and texturing together with your normal pencil.

Other things that you should buy are pencil sharpeners, erasers and a pencil box to hold them all. If not anything else, it will bring back your memories of school days!

Beginners Techniques

When you are learning to draw, try using grids or rectangles to draw a picture. Take the picture you like to draw, make a digital photocopy of it and then divide it into grids. Make sure that you use a ruler for measurement. Then draw the same size rectangle in your drawing paper. Using the ruler, divide it into grids equal in size and number to the original picture. Then try drawing grid by grid and eventually the whole picture will emerge. It is very practical for beginners to learn this way. In fact, even advanced painters use this bite method to draw a picture. After you have finished drawing and coloring, you can erase the lines.

If you go into mans past, you will see that drawing is an art form that has been practiced all through human history and in all civilizations and society. So do not give up your desire to draw, work on it and practice hard. Who knows, may be your favorite pastime will become work of art and inspire some one else to learn drawing in future just as the great masters inspired you!
