Party Games

Certain games get played all the time, but certain games only seem to get played at parties. these are the true party games. The party games like these are party games like ping the tail on the Donkey and musical chairs. Who doesn't remember going to birthday parties as a kid and playing party games. One of the party games that always got played was, pint the tail on the donkey. Pint the tail on the donkey was one of the most difficult party games because it looked so deceptively simple. I mean, who couldn't pin the tail on the donkey? but then after waiting in line to play this party game, they put the blindfold on you and spun you around and oh no, you don't know which end is up. Where is the donkey? forget about the tail, I just don't want to fall over.

Sometimes, we would play this party game over and over because no one even came close. This was on of the toughest party games. But finally, the birthday boy's mother would spin some little girl, not so hard and then push her straight for the donkey's butt and everyone would yell pin it! pin it! and of course, she would win the party game and the party games would be over. But sometimes we went straight into musical chairs. Now this, in my mind is one of the most dangerous of all the party games. I mean, who invents party games that have kids pushing and shoving and running to sit on chairs and pulling chairs out from under each other all to win some five and dime store prize? Party games are supposed to be fun and exciting, but this one usually turned into a contact sport.

I don't think that's the way party games were supposed to be. But the party games were always a big part of the fun of going to birthday parties as a kid. Party games provided the excitement. Party games allowed all the kids to work off some energy. And the party games always provided a chance to win some great prizes. Things like those paddles with the ball attached by a rubber band or a bottle of liquid soap for blowing bubbles. This kind of loot sure made party games something you wanted to win.

We could play other party games sometimes like blind man's bluff (a very enlightened and sensitive game) and hot potato with a bean bag. Some of these party games got a little wild because who the heck wants to bet burned by a hot potato, so you had better chuck it to the next kid pretty fast. Party games sure were fun.
