If you take the time and make the effort, you can hear some truly great vocal music by going to the opera or listening to opera recordings. The vocal music of opera can be a little overwhelming so if you are interested in vocal music, but opera isn't your thing, then there are still some very enjoyable vocal music avenues open to you. Light operas or operettas, musical theater, and somewhat dated, but very exciting to listen to, the barbershop quartets with their four part harmonies.
