Niche Marketing – How To Find Your Target Market

The main factors in niche marketing is choosing a unique product or service and then finding a target market who will buy them. For a small business, you must understand that there will be only a few people who will be interested in buying your service or product. This group of potential customers is your niche market that you should aim for.

When you choose a product or service for niche marketing, make sure you specialize in something that is unique. Instead of trying to offer a large number of products or services, become a specialist and offer only a particular type of product. If you do that, it will become easier for you to target a particular segment of people.

You need to identify the basic reasons why your potential customers shop for a particular product. This could be the factor that the success of your niche marketing business could depend on. People buy things to satisfy basic needs, to solve problems and to get a feeling of well-being. Once you have identified how your product can satisfy these needs, you can start marketing them accordingly.

Market Segmentation

The next thing you need to do is divide your market into primary and secondary markets. You need to see if your primary market is international, national or local. For example, let us say that your primary market is local. You can divide them into different segments based on several factors like age, gender and marital status. If you are dividing the market according to age then you will have children, teenagers, adults and senior citizens in separate categories. After that you can divide them into further segments based on interests, hobbies, faiths and opinions.

In niche marketing, you have to go into all these details before you can actually identify your target market. This way you can actually classify if your target customer is going to be a middle-class, stay-at-home mom with two kids, who believes in being physically fit and is moderately opinionated. Once you have identified your target market for your niche marketing enterprise, you have to reach out to them in every possible way and inform them about what you are offering. Use the internet, local newspapers and even handouts if you have to. Once you get through to your target customers, make sure you are ready to sell your product or service. If you provide them what they want along with excellent customer service, they will keep coming back to you for more and recommend you to their friends and family as well.

You will need to divide your primary market into smaller market segments in order to identify your niche market. This is an essential for making your niche marketing endeavor a success.
