Reading

What do you think of when you hear the word reading? Do you think of books when you read the word reading? do you think of the printed word when you see the word reading? Well there is reading and then there are readings. When i contemplate reading, I picture libraries with rows and rows of shelves stacked floor to ceiling with books. To me, reading means books. Books that contain the accumulated knowledge of the human race. Reading is the gateway to all knowledge. By reading, you can understand man's history. Through reading, you can advance your own knowledge of any subject. Reading can also be a great entertainer.

Reading can thrill you. Reading can shock you. Reading can break your heart. But reading can provide hours and hours of absorbing entertainment. Reading is also a necessary life skill for getting on in the modern world. Reading is essential to succeed in the working world. Without reading skills, you would have a much tougher time being successful in almost any job. To not have reading skills, you would have a much tougher time being successful in almost any job. To not have reading skills is such a huge handicap. It is hard to imagine how people get by in the world without reading skills. They do somehow. And there are a lot of them too.

There are also people who get by day to day with very weak reading skills. Even this is a terrible handicap. Not only do you miss out on the joys of reading for pleasure, but you are constantly at a disadvantage just getting by in the everyday world with weak reading skills. There is just so much we have to read and understand in all facets of our daily lives that having weak reading skills would just make everything so much harder.

But when you think of reading, maybe you think about palm reading, or tarot card reading, or reading body language, or crystal ball reading, or maybe, wait, don't tell me, it's coming into focus now, mind reading. There sure are a lot of different kinds of reading. Which makes reading that much more fun and exciting. A lot of these types of reading don't have anything to do with reading printed words on pages, but they are called reading just the same. But there is a type of reading going on. Take palm reading, for example. The person doing the palm reading studies your palm and attempts to read it like a book that is all about you. Some people are very skilled at this type of reading and can tell a lot about a person from reading their palm, not just their biography.
