Designer Shoes

Designer shoes have in a sense existed for centuries, although the term designer shoes has become common only in more recent decades.Undoubtedly the first designer shoes appeared centuries ago, when some shoemaker created footwear for Egyptian queens or Greek matrons.  Granted, the footwear which was the designer shoe of those eras was relatively simple.  Designer shoes were sandals...sometimes simple leather...sometimes decorated with gems. Or in some cases, designer shoes may hae been elaborate slippers.  But someone designed them and someone made them...therefore they were indeed designer shoes.

Designer shoes of today are a different story.  Designer shoes are created by known and recognized fashion designers, who may create much more than designer shoes. Designer shoes are designed to show off other garments created by fashion designers, but inevitably create trends among women who crave designer shoes as they crave designer gowns and sportswear.

Most designer shoes consider neither comfort nor practicality.  Designer shoes are designed to show off the foot, often in rather bizarre fashion.  Designer shoes include closed and open shoe designs, heels of every length, and materials of all types.  In general, designer shoes cannot be mass produced exactly, although copies of designer shoes with some modification are definitely mass produced. Designer shoes set the trends for every season..designer sandals for summer, designer boots for winter.

In recent years, designer shoes have run the gamut from square-toed, square-heeled designs to designer shoes which more recently have had needle-point toes and extreme high heels...basically excrutiating to wear for any length of time.  Still, women wear the most extreme designer shoes...particularly those in the public eye as celebrities or socially prominent women. Designer shoes are an important part of an overall high fashion, designer wardroe to many women.  Other women of modest income will be wearing copies of designer shoes and other clothing, purchased at lower prices or at discount outlets.

Men are not exampt from the influence of designer shoes.  There are designer shoes created by fashion designers specifically for men.  While men's shoes are not as extreme as those designed for women, they are nevertheless an influence in the wardrobes of both young and older men. Designer shoes for both men and women are an element in the wardrobes of those who can afford them. And knockoffs are present in the wardrobes of young and old worldwide.
