Making Dry Skin Care Easy

Dry skin is characterized by low level of sebum. Dry skin has a parched look and usually feels tight and uncomfortable after washing. If you have a dry skin type, you need to follow a skin care routine that is fit for dry skin. However, before you start your dry skin care routine it would also help you to know the causes behind dry skin.

Causes For Dry Skin
One of the main reasons behind dry skin is the inability of oil glands to supply enough lubrication to the skin. This leads to dehydration of skin. Your genetic inheritance could also be the reason behind your dry skin. Poor diet can also cause dry skin. Skin conditions, like dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, or seborrhea cause dry skin. Environmental factors, like sun, wind, cold, chemicals, etc. are some of the leading causes of dry skin.

Dry Skin Care
Those with dry skin should avoid using tap water to wash their face. Use mineral water instead. Also avoid washing your face with hot water. Use a gentle cleanser to wash your face and apply a moisturizer after washing your face.  After taking a shower you should a mild application of baby oil will do well for your skin.

Natural cleansers and moisturizers can work wonders for your dry skin. Fifteen minutes before taking a shower apply a mixture of 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon orange juice, 1 teaspoon olive oil, few drops of rose water, and few drops of lime juice. This is an excellent skin cleanser and rejuvenator.

Night moisturizing is a very important part of dry skin care routine. After you have cleaned and toned your skin apply moisturizer over your skin. Massage it gently for 40-50 seconds. Take a warm washcloth and cover your face and neck with it for five minutes. This will help in the penetration of the moisturizer.

Milk bath once a week will help nourish and smoothen your skin. Put 250 grams of powdered milk, half tablespoon of almond oil, and few drops of perfume in your warm bath water. Soak your body in the water for at least 20 minutes. Within weeks you will start to see a positive effect on your skin.

In addition to the above mentioned dry skin care tips, you should also take care of your diet. Your diet should be rich in protein. Include foods, like onion, garlic, and asparagus in your diet because they are high in sulfur, which keeps the skin smooth. Vitamin A and C are also good for your skin. Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these dry out the skin.

Taking care of your dry skin is not that hard if you have all the necessary information. Plus you obviously have to be very serious about your skin care routine. Half-hearted measures would not give you good results.
