From Einstein to Bill Gates

One of the many benefits that a free society gives to its citizens is the freedom of intellectual curiosity and the freedom of those who are gifted with true genius to find out how God would have them make their contribution to society.  Many societies have made tremendous scientific breakthroughs across history.  But the scope and power of the kinds of genius that America has been able to produce dwarfs anything our contemporary countries have been able to do or even anything in history.

It really is impossible to discuss the true greatness of this country without discussing the accomplishments of the best and brightest America has produced.  And genius is so prevalent in America that it is almost commonplace.  The list of great minds that America has produced over its short history is truly phenomenal.  From Einstein to Bill Gates, America has produced such phenomenal genius that the lives of humankind everywhere have been improved forever because of their contributions.

One area of innovation that was unthinkable before the American experiment began to produce truly innovative thinking is the space program.  Before the idea was conceived in the minds of a few great American thinkers, the idea of man landing on the moon was the stuff of childhood storybooks and silly fantasy.  Americans are the people who dare to think of the unthinkable as a reality.  It took American scientists, infused with that great American trait of optimism, the willingness to imagine anything as possible and then the ability to make it come true that resulted in that first landing on the moon in 1969.

In the field of medicine, it was Americans that dared to dream not just of avoiding or surviving the dread diseases of the world but curing them entirely.  That same attitude of if we can dream it, we can make it happen has gripped the American medical community so much so that we firmly believe that if we try hard enough, have enough money and apply all of our combined efforts, good will and genius to any medical problem, we can defeat that problem.  We have had some stunning successes in the field of medical science.  Moreover, the way people are treated and even operated on in modern times was hardly even imaginable as science fiction on a few years ago.

We have already mentioned Einstein as one of the great Americans that did more than just come up with a great invention.  Einsteins ability to think thoughts that had never been thought before set him apart and the result was that he changed the very structure of how we view the world and the universe.  While Einstein only became an American later in his life, we see that as one of our own coming home to us.  It was the American culture that drew the genius of one like Einstein to it to continue his groundbreaking work.

America is not only the home of great thinkers but great thinkers are drawn to America because this is the place where history making discoveries are known to happen.  It is more than just the open access to knowledge that we as Americans take for granted.  The way the American culture of freedom of thought, expression and innovation works is so conducive to great genius that unlike any other country in the world, America has become the home of great genius.  And this will continue to be the case as long as Americans dont compromise their freedoms and defend to the death the right of all Americans to think boldly and to think new thoughts and express them.  The more we do that, the more every girl and boy growing up in the country can grow up to change the world just as the great American inventors and geniuses have done since the day the America became a country.
