Support for Women in Business
Originally as women began to enter the business world in the 20th century, there was little or no support for women in business, other than the slight support and encouragement they gave one another. Women were held to subordinate positions in business organizations and often could only find work in factories or possibly hospitals.  Support for women in business was badly needed.
As women have gradually gained foothold in many areas of business and industry, more and more organizations have come into being to offer support for women in business. Many of these organiatios have been created by the women themselves. Currently there are many organizations providing support for women in business.
The National Association of Business Women provides support for women in business by women in business. The National Association of Female Executives is the largest women's business owners organization in the US and offers resources and services as support for women in business. In addition to various national organizations, there are also numerous state organizations offering support for women in business throughout the US.
An international organization, Women in Technology International, offers worldwide services and networking to women in various technical fields.  The organization supplies support for women in business, especially concerning issues important to women, and to new technologies.
The National Women's Business Council offers support for women in business whose businesses gross over $2 million annually. The main thrust of this organization's work is toward improving business conditions for women as they support women in business. The Small Business Association, on the other hand, supports women in business through its business center which offers resources and programs to support women in business at the beginning, in terms of startup and building a business.
There are many other sources for support for women in business in the US, in other countries, and internationally.  This is a far cry from the situation in the early part of the twentieth century. It was inevitable that groups of women, as well as other groups, would develop to provide support for, women in business as women struggled to gain a foothold in the business world and as they have become more and more successful in achieving positions of power and authority in corporations and institutions worldwide. It can be foreseen that more women in power and more women's organization will continue to provide even more support for women in business.
