Women in Business

Women in business have had a long and continuing struggle to achieve anything resembling parity with men in terms both of management positions available to women in business and in the level of income which women can achieve compared to men.  There are now numberous organizations which exist solely to assist women in business to move toward moe power and more money.

Among the organizations which now exist to assist women in business are The National Association of Women in Business, the Business Women's Association, the Small Business Administration and others.  These organizations can offer assistance to business women in a number of areas. If a woman chooses to enter the business world as an entrepeneur she can receive advice regarding financing, important to any woman in business who is seeking to establish her own company

The National Association of Women in Business supplies support to its members and others through networking, working toward improved compensation for women, and sources of training for management positions for women in business.

It is only during the last 3 decades that women in business have made real progress toward equality with men.  In the 1980's, advertisements for jobs for women were segregated and lumped into low paying occupations and dead-end jobs. And it was not until 1993 that the Family Medical Leave legislation was passed allowing women in business to keep jobs while taking maternity leave.

Today, however, many women are listed among the executives in Fortune's 500 top companies, and while they still do not earn salaries comparable to those of men in equal positions, women in business are in many instances earning in the millions annually.

Today more and more women own businesses, choosing to be entrepreneurs. And those who choose to compete in the open  market with men are finding more opportunities than available to women in business just a few years ago.  Many women in business have achieved fortune and reknown in their 50's, and are proving that business women can be just as effective and powerful in business as their male competitors.  There is plenty of room for improvement in the lot of women in business, however, both in achieving corporate and world power and the extremely high earnings allotted their male counterparts. And you can believe that women in business will continue to challenge men at every level in every area of business and world leadership.
