Camping is a great way of vacationing that has arisen out of our latent desire to remain in proximity of Mother Nature. Occasionally we feel the need to break free from the shackles of material world and cuddle in natures lap for a while. You also have the option to stay in one of the many hotels or resorts in the mountains. However, the formal surroundings of these places constantly remind you of the city life that you are trying so hard to get away from. That is why camping emerges as an ideal choice for those who are looking for that perfect twith Mother Nature!

Camping Sites:
It has been conventional to camp in mountainous regions that are usually heavily forested. Though there is no such binding rule for camping. You can pitch your tent virtually at any isolated and scenic place amid the hills, on the bank of a river, seaside area etc. However, people find camping much more fun in the hills or mountains. The terrain simply suits the vacationing style. The majestic grandeur and serenity of mountains overlooking camping sites, the popular associated activities like rock climbing, hiking, trekking, mountain biking and so on make mountains ideal camping spots. It is for this reason, these days camping has come to imply staying in tents in the wild mountainous regions. In the U.S, the government has specified certain areas and parks that are to be used as camping grounds.

Different Ways To Camp:
Camping is chiefly a recreational activity aimed at having fun in pristine surroundings. However, some people also see it as a means to test their endurance.  Therefore, broadly two ways of camping have developed. One is the milder kind practiced by families who camp at safe sites where amenities like water, medicine, and sports like fishing, horse riding, etc are available to keep the children engaged and entertained. Other kind of camping is meant for adults looking for adventure. In this case, sites encompass rough terrain and the activities include hiking, trekking, and rock climbing. Such campers bring along the minimum amount of gear. The period of camping also varies greatly. Some camping trips are restricted to weekends and some stretch as far as a month.

The Weather Factor:
Usually the best season to go camping is summer. Most people prefer to camp during the warmer part of the year. However, camping during winter months can also be fun and there are a good number of people who like to do it. Camping in snow gives you a different high and one big advantage is that you get to see more wildlife than in summer. The reason is that animals like deer, moose etc. move to the lower regions of mountains in search of food.
