Fun And Food At Camping

Camping in itself is great fun. The experience of living in a tent at a secluded place amid scenic surroundings is simply exhilarating.  However, you can have still more fun by indulging in fun activities at the camping site. Also, as is with any other sort of vacationing activity, the fun of camping can be spoiled considerably if you do not get reasonably good meals during the vacation. So what type of food should one take along while going camping? Actually, there are many factors that should be given due consideration before selecting the camping food. The options for both fun and food at camping are many. Here are a few suggestions:

The Fun Activities:
The various associated activities that one could choose from at camping sites or parks include fishing, boating, horse riding, rafting, hiking, and rock climbing. The availability of facilities for such activities vary from one site / park to another depending upon the location, topography etc. If you are interested in a particular sort of activity, choose the site accordingly. The best part of camping, however, is to sit around a bonfire at night and share each others experiences, sing songs, tell jokes and so on.

The Food Factor:
You require a lot of energy during a camping trip because you are physically much more active than you are in your usual routine and end up burning a lot of calories. So it is vital for you to carry the right kind of food to keep you or your family properly nourished during the trip.

If you dont have experience or a particular interest in outdoor cooking, it is best for you to carry sufficient quantities of packed or freeze-dried food. There are many brands on the market that provide good quality packed / freeze-dried food for camping. Such food is reasonably tasty and you can eat it comfortably throughout your stay at the camp.

However, if you prefer freshly cooked food you can pack in some grocery items and meat (for which you require a cooler or icebox) and opt for cooking your own food. In this case, you can have more variety in your food. You can have anything from soups to hotdogs, vegetables, steak, potatoes and so on. You can either use a grill or cook directly over the fire. To help you have variety of dishes and ease of cooking, there are a number of camping cookbooks available in the market.

The advantage of opting for readymade or freeze-dried type of food is that you dont need to devote too much time and effort for cooking. The drawback is that you end up spending more on your meals. Whereas if you decide on cooking your own food over the fire or grills be prepared to put in significant effort and time. Moreover, you also will have to carry cookware to make meals. But when it comes to camping most people including kids find cooking a lot of fun.

The key is to carefully examine your own interest and then opt for the right kind of fun activities and food. This will help you have loads of fun and make your stay comfortable during camping.
