Sometimes, if the core of the pencil is weak, then it easily breaks when sharpened by sharpener. To avoid that many artist prefer cutting their pencil by a craft knife. If you are using one of them then be extra careful- always cut away from your body to avoid any injury.

Erasers

There are two kind of erasers used in drawing especially pencil drawing. They are kneadable eraser and white eraser. The uses of them are as follows:

Electric eraser: used by the illustrators as they clean an area precisely and clean large area rapidly.

If you use your finger to clean up an area, the skin oils can damage the paper and make greasy marks that will be difficult to erase. So it is better to use tortillion, a tight spiral stick of fibrous paper. It is used for smudging and blending. So a ruler and a T-square is must for drawing a border around your work. A flexicurve is not that essential but important if you are drawing manufactured objects. In that case, this tool will help you to draw a perfect smooth curve.
