Film Acting

Film acting. We've all seen it by now. Film acting is different from stage acting. Film acting can be so much more subtle. The big screen does the projecting so the actor, when he is Film acting doesn't need to overact. Film acting has become an art form in and of itself. Everybody these days thinks they want to do film acting. It all looks so easy. But Film acting isn't as simple as it seems. We have all seen film acting evolve. Film acting began in the early 1900's with the silent movie. Since there was no sound track, the film acting in these movies had to be way over the top. Film acting at this point was very frenetic and emotions had to be broadcast.

Film acting in its early days had very little subtlety to it. With the advent of sound, a new dimensions was added to film acting. Tone of voice could add many shades to the emotion of film acting. Film acting no longer required a lot of mad dashing around and waving of the arms and making broad facial expressions for the camera. Film acting began to include stillness as the human voice could evoke so much. With the advent of color films and better film technology, film acting became even more of a subtle art. Film acting could portray so much more depth and internal struggle than it once did. But no longer could people who were great stage actors be automatically successful at film acting, and visa versa. Film acting truly became its own art form.

Film acting has gone through other changes too. At one point almost all film acting was being done on a set somewhere on the movie studio lot. Then film acting moved out into the real world as audiences and filmmakers demanded more realism. At this point, Film acting had to be done under some of the most trying circumstances. out on city streets, outdoors in all sorts of weather, or in real life situations in real homes. But the realism of the setting could help the Film acting as well as hinder it. When doing this type of Film acting, the actor was there on the real spot seeing, feeling, tasting and smelling the real atmosphere of the scene. This type of real stimulation could be a real boon to film acting.

But now it seems we have come full circle with film acting. So much of Film acting these days is done on closed sets in front of blue screens because all the detail and realism will be added later by computers. Film acting today takes so much more imagination on the part of the actor.
